These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the CalHop mobile application, website, and related services (“CalHop”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By downloading, accessing, or using CalHop, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use CalHop.
1. About CalHop
CalHop is a travel planning app designed to help users seamlessly integrate their calendar events with navigation assistance for smoother travel to calendar appointments.
Depending on the features available to you, CalHop may:
- Access calendar events you authorize;
- Access your device location;
- Identify appointments that contain travel locations;
- Estimate travel times;
- Calculate suggested departure or “leave by” times;
- Provide traffic-related travel information;
- Provide time-to-leave notifications;
- Display upcoming appointments; and
- Open supported third-party navigation applications, including Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze.
While CalHop serves as an effective travel-planning aid, it does not guarantee that you will arrive at a destination by any particular time.
2. Calendar and Location Access
CalHop requires access to specific device information and permissions to provide its functionality effectively, including:
- Your calendar and calendar events;
- Event titles, times, and locations;
- Your current or approximate location; and
- Notification permissions.
You may disable permissions through your device settings. Note that some CalHop features may not function if required permissions are disabled.
Our handling of personal information is described in the CalHop Privacy Policy.
3. Travel Times and Leave-By Estimates
Travel times, traffic information, routes, and leave-by times displayed by CalHop are estimates. Actual travel conditions may differ due to traffic, road closures, accidents, weather, and other circumstances outside CalHop's control.
You remain responsible for deciding when to depart, which route to take, and whether it is safe and appropriate to travel. Allow additional travel time where punctual arrival is important.
4. Navigation
CalHop may open third-party navigation applications or services. Navigation assistance is provided by the selected third-party service, not by CalHop.
You are responsible for complying with road rules and applicable laws and for exercising appropriate care while driving. Avoid interacting with CalHop or your mobile device while driving in ways that could be unsafe or unlawful.
5. CalHop Free
CalHop may offer certain functionality without a paid subscription. Free features and usage allowances may vary over time. CalHop may, for example, provide a limited number of complimentary travel calculations, or “Free Trips,” so users can experience selected CalHop Pro functionality before subscribing.
Unless otherwise stated, unused complimentary features hold no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash.
6. CalHop Pro
Some CalHop functionality requires a paid CalHop Pro subscription. CalHop Pro includes features such as:
- Unlimited live travel-time calculations;
- Automatic leave-by calculations;
- Future appointment travel previews;
- Traffic-related travel adjustments;
- Time-to-leave notifications; and
- Other premium functionality introduced over time.
The specific features included in CalHop Pro may evolve as CalHop is developed.
7. Subscriptions and Billing
CalHop Pro may be offered as a recurring monthly or annual subscription. When subscribing through Apple's App Store or another authorized application marketplace:
- Payment is charged to your applicable store account;
- Your subscription may automatically renew unless canceled;
- Renewal may be charged within the period specified by the applicable store;
- You can manage or cancel your subscription through your store account settings; and
- Prices may vary by country, currency, taxes, and marketplace.
The price and billing period shown to you at the time of purchase will apply to that transaction. Deleting CalHop from your device does not automatically cancel an active subscription.
8. Automatic Renewal and Cancellation
Recurring CalHop Pro subscriptions automatically renew until canceled unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid subscription period, and you will generally retain Pro access until that period ends, subject to the applicable marketplace's terms.
9. Restore Purchases
If you have previously purchased CalHop Pro through a supported marketplace, CalHop may provide a Restore Purchases function based on your purchase history and account information.
10. Third-Party Services
CalHop relies on third-party platforms and services to deliver certain functionalities, including those provided by Apple, Google, Microsoft, Waze, RevenueCat, and other technology providers. Your use of these third-party services may also be subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. Please note that CalHop is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or operation of third-party services.
11. Notifications
If enabled, CalHop may send notifications related to departure times, appointments, or changes in travel conditions. Notifications may be delayed, unavailable, or inaccurate due to device settings, operating-system restrictions, network connectivity, background-processing limitations, or third-party data availability. It’s advisable not to rely solely on CalHop notifications to determine when you need to leave for an appointment.
12. Acceptable Use
You must not:
- Use CalHop for unlawful purposes;
- Attempt to interfere with or compromise CalHop's operation or security;
- Reverse engineer CalHop except where permitted by law;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to CalHop systems or services;
- Misuse third-party services accessed through CalHop; or
- Use CalHop in ways that could endanger yourself or another person.
13. Availability and Changes
We may update, modify, add or remove CalHop features as necessary. We may also perform maintenance or temporarily suspend functionality for security, maintenance, technical, or operational reasons. We do not guarantee that CalHop or any individual feature will always be available without interruption.
14. Intellectual Property
CalHop, including its branding, software, interface, graphics, logos, and original content, is owned by or licensed to CalHop and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use CalHop in accordance with these Terms. They do not transfer ownership of CalHop or its intellectual property to you.
15. Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified, including rights that may apply under the Australian Consumer Law. Where our liability cannot lawfully be excluded, these Terms will apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CalHop is not liable for loss arising solely from reliance on estimated travel times, suggested departure times, traffic information, third-party navigation information, or delayed or unavailable notifications. You are responsible for your travel decisions, personal safety, and compliance with applicable laws. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.
17. Privacy
Your use of CalHop is also subject to our Privacy Policy.
